1. Experience the challenge of a lifetime
Do something fun, adventurous, and truly life changing. It is no coincidence that participants from our previous cycle rides have come back for more. You will get hooked. It is one of the most amazing experiences that you could wish for: something you’ll look back on in your later years. You will not look back and wished that you’d worked harder!
2. Join a diverse team
Cultivate a sense of camaraderie with people of all backgrounds, ages, and from all walks of life. Previous participants have ranged from company directors to recent graduates, all sharing the enthusiasm and the commitment to take part. What’s more, we will organise an informal dinner at which you will meet your fellow cyclists prior to our departure.
3. Discover Africa
Tanzania is one of the unique destinations on the African continent that has yet to be discovered by many. It is a country steeped in dominating scenery and a rich culture, with an unparalleled diversity of fauna and flora. The sights and sounds of this vibrant country ensure for a memorable trip.
4. Go beyond the tourist trail
Even if you have visited the country before, Cycle Tanzania offers an excellent way to see it in a completely different way. The ride will take you off the beaten track and beyond the boundaries of a normal safari; through game reserves, passing Maasai tribes and camping under the starry African sky.
5. A haven of peace
One of the popular misconceptions of Tanzania is of a country blighted by corruption and political instability. This is not the case. Tanzania has been spared the internal strife of many African states – it is an oasis of peace and egalitarian values in a continent stoked up with political and ethnic tension. Tanzanians are polite and courteous, yet also warm and genuine, both amongst themselves and in their dealings with foreigners.
6. Get fit…or keep fit!
However, you do not need to be superhuman to take part! We will provide you with training support every step of the way, from registration to departure. We will also organise training days and practice rides to help you prepare.
7. ICT support
If raising the minimum sponsorship seems like a daunting task, fear not. We have organised six previous rides and provided participants with fundraising advice throughout. Last year we had 41 participants for Cycle India and not one of them failed to reach their fundraising target.
8. Celebrate your achievement
Party long into the night upon completion of the ride…
9. And above all, do something really worthwhile
International Childcare Trust is a small dynamic UK registered charity working in direct partnership with local organisations in Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, Cambodia, Sri Lanka and India. We fund high impact targeted projects, managed and staffed by our partner organisations. These projects give deprived children and young people the essentials they need to build a life: shelter, healthcare, education, skills training and companionship. The ride ends with a visit to an ICT supported children’s project so you can see, first hand, how your fundraising efforts will help make a difference.
10. So what are you waiting for?
If you have never done a challenge before, this is a fantastic opportunity to start now. No excuses! Set yourself a challenge for 2009 - you'll have a fantastic time and on finishing, an overwhelming sense of achievement. |
